Greater Swiss Mountain Dog

The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, also known as the "Swissy," is a large and powerful breed from Switzerland. It's part of the Swiss Mountain Dog group and is the largest and oldest of the four breeds. Swissies have a distinctive tri-color coat, a friendly and gentle temperament, and are known as "gentle giants." They are intelligent, require regular exercise, and are good with children. Originally bred for work in the Swiss Alps, they were used for herding, pulling carts, and guarding. Today, they make loyal family pets and watchful guardians but can be prone to certain health issues, requiring responsible breeding and veterinary care.
