The Bernese Mountain Dog, also known as the Berner, is a large and tri-colored breed with a friendly and gentle temperament. They are often characterized as loyal and good-natured, making them great family dogs. Berners have a moderately active lifestyle, require regular grooming due to their long and thick coat, and are prone to some genetic health issues. They originated in the Swiss Alps, traditionally used for farm and draft work. With proper care, they have a relatively short lifespan of 6 to 8 years and thrive in households where they receive ample attention and socialization.
